A BBC Radio 4 full-cast dramatisation starring Michael Hordern as Jeeves and Richard Briers as Wooster

Richard Briers and Michael Hordern… sensational in the main roles Time Out

Steeple Bumphleigh is the sort of picturesque place where you can’t throw a brick without hitting a honeysuckled cottage or beaning an apple-cheeked villager. But for Bertie Wooster, it is a place to be avoided, containing (as it does) not only the appalling Aunt Agatha but also her husband, the terrifying Lord Worplesdon.

So when a certain amount of familial arm-twisting is applied, Bertie heads for the sticks in fear and trepidation despite the support of the irreplaceable Jeeves.

Still, there are good deeds to be done, like extricating ‘Stilton’ Cheesewright from the clutches of Florence Craye, a girl from whom Bertie himself only escaped by the slimmest of cat’s whiskers.

But even Bertie is hideously unaware of the perils which lie in wait before the (accidentally) happiest of endings.

Black Creek Crossing
Thirteen-year-old Angel Sullivan falls in love with her family’s new home - the house that stands at Black Creek Crossing in the small town of Roundtree, Massachusetts. But the idyll is soon shattered as Angel learns a shocking secret about the house. It seems that a double murder took place there, and no one has lived at Black Creek Crossing since.

As Angel and her family begin to confront the mounting perils in their new dwelling, increasingly bizarre events occur in Roundtree: terrible storms strike; seemingly inexplicable "accidents" transpire; and rumors of witchcraft, a phenomenon that figured in the town’s history hundreds of years earlier, begin to resurface…

Journey Into Space: The Red Planet - Episode 11

Charles Chilton’s classic science fiction trilogy stormed the BBC airwaves during the 1950s.

Its gripping story lines, extra-terrestrial sound effects and atmospheric music engaged the listener as never before.

Between 1953 and 1958, a devoted audience of adults and children attentively followed Captain Jet Morgan and his crew from one cliff-hanger to another as, together, they faced the unknown perils of space.

In this second series Captain Jet Morgan and his crew of Doc Matthews, engineer Mitch Mitchell and radio operator Lemmy Barnet are on board the flagship Discovery, leading a fleet of space ships, their mission to explore Mars, the mysterious and, as they believe, uninhabited red planet.

This is the eleventh of twenty episodes and was broadcast on 15/11/54

Reluctant Metrosexual, The: Dispatches from an Almost Hip Life

Reluctant Metrosexual, The: Dispatches from an Almost Hip Life
Read by the author, an essayist and stand-up comedian, this collection of hilarious essays is about a single guy attempting to live on the right side of hip.
If Peter Hyman is a metrosexual, a straight man with gay tastes, then he is one reluctantly, being loath to hitch himself to an au courant cultural trend, unless doing so would get him a movie deal or an actual girlfriend.
Peter Hymans musings, more pop cultural than philosophical, range from the heartfelt to the absurd, whether hes describing the scotch-soaked grief of a bad breakup or his unfortunate attempt at a mnage trois. With sophistication and enviable wit, The Reluctant Metrosexual chronicles the promiscuity and perils of modern manhood.

Peter Hyman, a former Vanity Fair staffer, has written for the New York Times, the New York Observer, New York magazine, Travel + Leisure and various other national publications. He is also a professional comic and has performed at venues across the country. This is his first book. He lives in New York City.
